Around 30 years ago, when metal spike golf shoes were common and the paths around the 1st tee were constructed of concrete, the resulting noise often proved distracting for those teeing off.<\/p>\n

During a significant extension of the upper level of the Clubhouse at the time, the Club took the opportunity to address this issue, leading to the creation of the fishpond area as we know it today. This solution was both practical and well-received.<\/p>\n

Since then, the concrete paths have been replaced with a rubberised surface to reduce noise, and players now wear soft spike shoes – both of which have greatly diminished the original concerns.<\/p>\n

Today, as members and visitors approach the Pro Shop, the fishpond and its surrounding structure present the first visual impression of our course. However, this same structure also obscures what many consider one of the course\u2019s most beautiful vistas: looking down the 1st fairway, the adjacent holes, and out towards the city skyline.<\/span><\/p>\n

With this in mind, we are exploring the idea of opening up the area by removing the structure and extending the garden bed. This would allow for an enhanced and more welcoming view of our course.<\/p>\n

Recognising the significance and history of the fishpond area, we are keen to hear the views of our members before making any decisions.<\/p>\n
